The origen of the Costa Rican coffee

Costa Rican coffee is loved for its high production standards. (information drop! ) Arabica seeds have been planted in the province of San José since the late 18th century, where heads of state took advantage of the soil fertility and favorable climatic conditions to easily grow coffee.

Juan Mora Fernández and Braulio Carrillo were the first heads of state to see the true power of the “golden bean.” Thanks to their work, coffee cultivation also boosted the Costa Rican economy. The first export shipment to Europe arrived in England around 1843.

Costa Rica has coffee bean varieties such as Caturra, Catuai, Geisha, Villa Sarchi and SL28. We chose the latter for the 2025-2026 season to bring you the sweet taste reminiscent of sugar cane.
